Fashion photography pricing in Singapore varies more than most commercial photography categories. The scope difference between a white-background ecommerce catalogue shoot and a full brand campaign production is enormous — and so is the cost difference. Brands that approach a studio without a clear understanding of what they need often receive quotes that do not reflect their actual requirements, or compare quotes that are not covering the same deliverables.

This guide breaks down what drives fashion photography pricing in Singapore, what each shoot type realistically involves, and what to look for when comparing quotes.

What Affects Fashion Photography Pricing?

Before looking at ranges by shoot type, understanding the variables that drive cost makes it easier to compare quotes accurately and budget without surprises.

1. Shoot type. Ecommerce catalogue photography, ghost mannequin, lookbook, and campaign shoots have fundamentally different production scopes. A white-background catalogue session is optimised for speed and consistency. A lookbook shoot involves mood boarding, model direction, and creative styling. A campaign is a full production. The cost of each reflects its complexity.

2. Number of looks or SKUs. Volume directly affects session length. More garments or looks mean more time — for styling, shooting, and reviewing on the day. Studios price by session (half-day or full-day) rather than per look, so understanding your approximate volume helps estimate how many sessions you need.

3. Production support. The photographer’s fee covers shooting and post-production. Model fees, HMUA, stylist, and location costs are almost always additional. A quote that appears low may not include these elements — and they can add up to more than the studio fee itself.

4. Location. Studio shoots carry no location cost. On-location shooting adds travel logistics, potential location permits, and setup time. For outdoor locations in Singapore, some public spaces require a permit; private locations require a rental fee.

5. Post-production depth. Basic colour correction and file delivery is the minimum. Full retouching — skin, clothing, background, and colour grading to brand specification — takes significantly more time. Ghost mannequin shoots add compositing work per garment on top of standard retouching. Confirm what is included before comparing quotes.

6. Turnaround time. Standard turnaround is typically 5–10 business days from the shoot date for most catalogue and lookbook volumes. Express delivery — if available — is priced at a premium.

Fashion Photography Price Ranges in Singapore

The following gives a directional sense of what each shoot type involves and how it is typically structured. These are not fixed rates — your specific quote will depend on your brief.

Ecommerce Catalogue Photography

The most common and most scalable fashion photography format for brands selling on Shopee, Zalora, Lazada, or their own websites.

  • Pricing structure: Half-day or full-day session. Volume pricing applies — more looks per day reduces the per-look rate
  • What is typically included: Photographer, studio, basic retouching, file delivery in platform-ready formats
  • What is additional: Model fee, HMUA, stylist (if not provided by the brand)
  • Efficiency note: The per-look cost drops significantly with volume — a full-day session covering 60 looks has a meaningfully lower per-look rate than a half-day covering 15

Ghost Mannequin Photography

The most cost-efficient format for large-volume structured garment catalogues where on-model photography is not required.

  • Pricing structure: Per garment or per session, with post-production compositing either included or quoted separately
  • Cost advantage: No model fee — the largest single variable cost in on-model catalogue photography is removed
  • Additional post-production: Ghost mannequin compositing takes longer than standard retouching. This is factored into the rate but should be confirmed when requesting a quote
  • Best value for: Outerwear, structured womenswear, trousers, jackets, and any catalogue with a high proportion of garments that hold shape without a body

Lookbook Photography

More time-intensive per look than catalogue work, with higher production involvement per image.

  • Pricing structure: Half-day or full-day session, or by concept and deliverable for defined lookbook packages
  • What is typically included: Photographer, studio or location, art direction time, retouching and colour grading to brief
  • What is additional: Model agency fee, HMUA, stylist, location rental or permit, any prop sourcing outside the studio’s existing inventory
  • Production note: A seasonal lookbook covering 10–15 looks with professional production (model, HMUA, stylist, location) typically requires a full day plus pre-production time. Budget for the full production scope, not just the photographer’s session fee

Campaign and Advertising Photography

Project-based scope — priced from a creative brief rather than a session rate.

  • Pricing structure: Project quote built from the brief (deliverables, production requirements, usage rights)
  • What is included: Full production coordination — casting, styling direction, location or set build, advanced post-production
  • Expectation: Campaign shoots are the highest investment category in fashion photography. They are scoped individually; a generic rate card does not apply
  • Contact: Request a project brief meeting to scope accurately

What Is Not Included in Most Base Quotes

This is where fashion photography budgets most frequently surprise brands. The studio or photographer’s session fee typically covers shooting and post-production. The following are almost always additional:

Model agency fees. In Singapore, model fees for a commercial day rate vary depending on the model’s experience, the usage rights required, and the agency’s rates. For ecommerce catalogue work, fit models with commercial catalogue experience are the standard. For lookbook and campaign productions, fashion models with editorial or brand campaign experience command higher rates.

HMUA (Hair and Makeup Artist). Professional HMUA is essential for any fashion shoot beyond basic catalogue work. Budget SGD 200–600+ per person depending on experience, shoot length, and number of looks.

Stylist fee. If the brand is not providing its own stylist, a freelance stylist adds significant value to lookbook and campaign productions — and adds cost.

Location permit or rental. Public outdoor shoots in some parts of Singapore require a permit. Private location rentals — homes, commercial spaces, rooftops — carry a rental fee.

Revision rounds beyond the included allowance. Most studios include one round of revision in the base rate. Additional rounds are charged. Clarity on creative direction in the brief reduces the need for revisions.

How to Compare Quotes Accurately

Fashion photography quotes are not directly comparable unless they are covering the same scope. Before evaluating a quote:

  • Confirm what post-production is included — basic colour correction only, or full retouching and colour grading?
  • Check whether model and HMUA coordination is part of the service — some studios offer production management as part of their scope; others photograph only
  • Ask about ghost mannequin capability — not all studios offer this, and capability varies
  • Confirm image rights are fully transferred — all high-resolution files, no licensing restrictions retained by the studio
  • Check revision policy — how many rounds are included, and what is the charge for additional rounds?
  • Verify consistency systems — for brands planning multiple sessions, ask how the studio maintains colour and framing consistency across batches shot on different days

Getting a Quote

The most accurate way to budget a fashion photography shoot is to brief a studio with your specific requirements: shoot type, approximate number of looks or SKUs, intended platforms, production support needed, and timeline. Most studios will provide an itemised quote based on your brief.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a lookbook shoot cost in Singapore?
Lookbook photography pricing in Singapore depends on the number of looks, the production scope (whether model, HMUA, and styling are coordinated through the studio or provided by the brand), and the location. A focused studio lookbook session covering 8–12 looks with a model and basic styling typically requires a full-day booking. For an accurate quote, brief the studio with your look count, intended platforms, and production requirements.

Is the model fee included in fashion photography pricing?
In most cases, no. Studio session rates cover the photographer and the production of the images. Model fees are typically quoted separately through a talent agency or as a separate line in the studio’s production estimate. Always ask specifically whether the model fee is included or additional when comparing quotes — it is one of the most common sources of budget misalignment.

How much does ghost mannequin photography cost?
Ghost mannequin photography is generally priced per garment or per session, with the compositing work factored in. The per-SKU cost is typically lower than on-model catalogue photography because there is no model fee. However, compositing takes longer than standard retouching, so the per-image post-production cost is higher. For large-volume catalogues with primarily structured garments, ghost mannequin is usually the most cost-efficient format.

Can I reduce costs by bringing my own model?
Yes. Providing your own fit model — an employee or a regular model already known to the brand — removes the model agency fee from the quote entirely. The shoot will run most efficiently if the model is experienced in commercial catalogue work and can take direction efficiently. For lookbook and campaign productions, the model’s aesthetic and performance quality are a production variable — factor that into the decision about whether to use an agency-sourced model or an in-house option.
